The rumour market is ablaze with Xiaomi Mi6 launch date. The successor of Mi5 was earlier expected to hit the market on Valentine day and the leaked invite image fuelled this rumour to the core. The other reason that gave impetus to this rumour was that Mi5 was launched on the same date last year in China followed by showcasing it at MWC (Mobile World Congress) in late February in Barcelona.
With all the hype that Xiaomi has been gaining in the recent past, expectations are high that the Xiaomi Mi6 will be an even better phone than the rest of the 2016 family. Like the Xiaomi Mi5, the Xiaomi Mi6 should be launched at the upcoming MWC 2017 event. Now that the company has shown the world what it is capable of, most pundits are of the view that the Mi6 will take after the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 when it comes to the design language, at least for one variant. In short, a curved dual-edge display panel is touted alongside a dual-lens camera setup on the back.
The Mi6 smartphone is set to be powered by Qualcomm's latest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 835 along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Additionally, the device is rumoured to come with a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Another speculation that is doing rounds is that Mi6 will come in three different chipset variants. The Xiaomi Mi6 Pro will have the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset and will be the international variant. The Xiaomi Mi 6E with a MediaTek Helio chipset will be available only in selected markets. The third variant could be the Mi6P which will feature the company's in-house chipset Pinecone.
