MIUI 8 Alpha was released a little while ago, and since it came out the number one question we’ve received is “How do I install it?”

This guide will take you through all the steps.

Prerequisites for installing MIUI 8:
Mi Flash Tool
Adb Drivers
Battery at least 60% charged
Unlocked Bootloader

Installation:
1. First download the MIUI 8 ROM zip file for Mi Max (links here: https://www.xiaomidevice.com/blog/miui-8-china-alpha-rom-download/ ).

2. Extract the zip file.     

3. After extracting the image folder copy and paste this folder into your device C drive.

4. Open the Mi Flash tool.

5. Boot your device into fastboot mode by pressing and holding the volume down + power button for few seconds until you see the Mi logo.

6. After booting into fastboot mode connect you device with PC via USB cable. (If your device is not showing it means Adb drivers are not installed properly)

7. Click the refresh button.

8. In the Mi Flash tool you will find an option called browse just click on that and navigate the image folder which we put in the C drive earlier.

9. Now go to advance and browse the first option which is called fast bootscript.

10. Navigate to image folder and select flash all except data storage.

11. Click on flash button and leave your device. Flashing will take only one minute. Don't unplug your device.

12. Once flashing is complete, it'll automatically reboot your device. Unplug your device from computer and wait as it can take up to 10 minutes to reboot

13. Your device is ready with miui8 now, enjoy.
