On May 10, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi Mi Max smartphone featuring top-of-the-shelf configurations and sleek design, with an affordable price tag. The Redmi Note 3, on the other hand, was released in February 2016 with equally good specifications and metallic design in tow. Hence, it’s time to compare the specs, features and price of the two handsets in focus.

Xiaomi has launched three variants of the Mi Max smartphone. While the high-end 128GB variant will cost 2,000 yuan (about $307), the 64GB and 32GB models will set the buyers back by 1,700 yuan (about $261) and 1,500 yuan (roughly $230), respectively.

Speaking of release date, this device will be made available for purchase starting May 17, GizOK reported. Third-party XiaomiDevice website are expected to offer this smartphone in the U.S. shortly.

Display
The Xiaomi Mi Max features a whopping 6.44-inch IPS LCD display, complemented by 1,080 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution. In comparison, the Redmi Note 3 Pro carries a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display but the resolution is same as the Mi Max. The pixel densities of Note 3 and Mi Max are 403ppi and 342ppi, respectively.  

Hardware, Software
Under the hood, Mi Max and Redmi Note 3 are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 chipset. However, Xiaomi Mi Max’s 64GB and 128GB variants are powered by a slightly advanced Snapdragon 652 SoC.

The RAM configurations also change according to the internal storage capacity. For instance, the 32GB and 64GB model of Mi Max come with 3GB of RAM, while the 128GB variant comes backed by 4GB unit.

When it comes to Redmi Note 3, the 32GB variant settles for 3GB of RAM, whereas the 16GB version has 2GB RAM onboard.

On the software front, without any surprise, the latest Mi Max runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with MIUI 8 on top of it. The Note 3, meanwhile, runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop along with MIUI 7.

Camera, Battery
Camera-wise, both handsets sport the same 16-megapixel sensor at the back with dual-LED flash. In addition, there is also a 5-megapixel shooter at the front for selfies.

Furthermore, the Xiaomi Mi Max houses a non-removable Li-Ion 4,850 mAh battery unit. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, on the other hand, features a relatively inferior Li-Po 4,000 mAh non-removable cell.

Additional Features
Both Mi Max and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro support dual-SIM cards, LTE connectivity, fingerprint scanner and microSD card to facilitate expansion.
