Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun had revealed a few weeks back that the company has already started working on the successor to the Xiaomi Mi MIX phablet. The second generation Mi MIX phablet will be designed by French designer Philip Starck, who had also contributed to the design of the original model. Some more details regarding the Mi MIX 2 has surfaced online,
This comes from a Chinese report which claims that Xiaomi will increase its game with the Mi MIX 2 sporting a display of 93 percent screen-to-body ratio. The report further says that the Mi MIX 2 will feature a curved AMOLED display and will also flaunt a ceramic body like the Mi MIX. An image is shared as well portraying the Mi MIX 2 with the truly bezel-less display. The smartphone is seen with no bezel at all on top, but with a layer of it below the display. The report suggests that Xiaomi will use ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for the Mi MIX 2 which will be strategically placed below the display, like the Xiaomi Mi 5s. The Mi MIX smartphone has its fingerprint sensor placed on the rear end.
The Mi MIX 2 smartphone is expected to retain the 6.4-inch display size like its predecessor. The display on the Mi MIX 2 will however get support for 2K format as compared to the Xiaomi Mi MIX Pro which sports a full HD display. For photography, the Mi MIX 2 is said to adopt the dual camera setup and its selfie camera could feature LED flash enabled telescopic camera. On the software front, the Mi MIX 2 is said to run on Android 7.0 Nougat with MIUI 9 layered above.
Analyst Pan Jiutang has confirmed the info and says the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 will be launched sometime in the second half of 2017. While the original Mi MIX boasts a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio, the Mi MIX 2 is expected to feature an even more impressive 93% screen-to-body ratio.
