In less than two months of the launch of Xiaomi’s conceptual Xiaomi Mi MIX smartphone, the rumor mill is upbeat with the successor to the near bezel-less smartphone. Dubbed the Mi MIX 2, the smartphone is expected to offer a 100 percent screen-to-body ratio, which means it could be the first-ever smartphone to have no bezels, at all.

Based on the leaked renders, the Mi MIX 2 appears to have negligible bezels. But in one glance, it does offer a hard-to-believe but an impressive edge-to-edge display. On the right is the power button and the volume rockers. The top features the standard 3.5mm headphone jack along with the selfie camera, which looks like it is mounted on the top. The bottom houses the speaker grille along with a USB Type-C port for charging.

The original Mi MIX features a 16-megapixel rear camera with phase detection auto-focus (PDAF), electronic image stabilization (EIS) and dual tone LED flash, along with a 5-megapixel front camera which is placed on the bottom bezel of the screen. Now the Mi MIX 2 is expected to jump the dual camera module bandwagon. However, there are some renders of the purported device which hint at a single camera system in the rear. For selfies, the purported smartphone is expected to include LED flash enabled telescopic camera which is placed on the top-right edge of the smartphone. It looks like it could be popped out through a hardware key to capture photos.

While one must take these rumors with a pinch of salt as the original Mi MIX is yet to hit global markets. Priced at RMB 3,499 (Rs 34,000 approximately) for the 4GB of RAM + 128GB variant and 3,999 RMB (Rs 40,000 approximately) for the Xiaomi Mi MIX Pro variant with 18K gold rings, 6GB of RAM + 256GB storage, the Mi MIX is Xiaomi’s most expensive concept smartphone till date and currently only available only in China.
