Waiting will be finally over for Xiaomi Mobile owners who long to taste the Android 7 Nougat t their respective handsets because the Chinese tech firm is reportedly rolling out the latest mobile operating system to selected handsets in China.

In November 2016, Xiaomi began the release of Android 7.0 Nougat MIUI 8 beta update in November 2016, Android Authority reported. Hence, the Xiaomi MI5 is expected to be the first Xiaomi smartphone to get the update.

In relative to that, Xiaomi has recently announced that there are only six smartphones that will received the Android 7 Nougat update for the meantime. The list include Xiaomi Mi Note, Xiaomi Mi 4s, Xiaomi Mi 4c for the first phase and Xiaomi Mi MIX, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus and Xiaomi Mi Note 2 for the second phase.

Android 7 Nougat update is expected to bring new features such as App Shortcuts, Google's Image Keyboard, multi-window support, longer battery life, additional emojis and many more. On the other hand, Xiaomi did not mentioned about the Android 7 Nougat update for the Redmi series however speculations suggest that the rollout is likely to take place within the first quarter of 2017. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on whether Xiaomi will release MIUI 9 based Nougat update. The Nougat beta update is likely to be based on MIUI 8.
